As a military officer, I moved every few years — and every move meant the same exhausting cycle: chasing records, filling out duplicate forms, and hoping nothing important got lost between providers.

Vet records, vaccination histories, boarding requirements, training logs — all scattered across different offices and systems. In a world where nearly everything else is connected, animal records were still stuck in the past.

Six days before we left New Jersey for Colorado, my dog was diagnosed with cancer. I spent those days — days I should have been focused entirely on her — on the phone with her veterinary clinics in New Jersey, trying to get her medical records transferred so a new provider in Colorado could begin treating her.

Those delays — and the uncertainty that came with them — are something I'll never forget. It reinforced a simple truth: when an animal needs care, access to their records shouldn't be another obstacle.

But I soon realized this wasn't just a moving problem.

Animals change providers all the time. Families move. They seek second opinions. They visit emergency hospitals after hours. They see specialists, change groomers, board their pets while traveling, work with trainers, or adopt through shelters and rescue organizations. Yet every transition often starts the same way: filling out paperwork again, requesting records, waiting on emails or fax machines, and hoping nothing important gets lost along the way.

When your animal is healthy, that's frustrating. When they're sick, it's heartbreaking.

ANKRid exists because an animal's health history should follow the animal — not remain siloed within individual clinics. And no one should have to fight for their animal's records when they're already fighting for their animal's life.

With a background leading large-scale technology programs for the U.S. Space Force, I set out to bring the same level of reliability, interoperability, and user experience to animal healthcare that people already expect in other industries. The technology to solve this problem already exists — it simply hasn't been brought together in a way that puts animals, their owners, and their providers first.

My mission is simple: to ensure every animal has one permanent identity and one secure, owner-controlled health record that follows them wherever life takes them.
