Why We Built ANKRid

As a military officer, every few years meant a new city — and the same exhausting cycle: chasing vet records, refilling forms, hoping nothing important got lost along the way.

Six days before we left New Jersey for Colorado, my dog was diagnosed with cancer. I spent those days — days I should have spent with her — on the phone begging clinics to transfer her records so a new provider could treat her.

That delay is something I'll never forget. It reinforced a simple truth: when an animal needs care, access to their records shouldn't be another obstacle.

Animals change providers constantly — moves, second opinions, emergency hospitals, specialists, groomers, shelters. Yet every transition often starts the same way: filling out duplicative paper, requesting records, awaiting emails or faxes, and trusting nothing critical slips through the cracks.

When they're healthy, that's frustrating. When they're sick, it's heartbreaking.

That's why we built ANKRid—one permanent identity and one secure, owner-controlled health record that follows every animal wherever life takes them.
